Billing Practices
The Law Office of Brian V Powers understands the legal needs and financial constraints facing business ventures and has established its billing practices accordingly.
We offer a number of billing options to clients. Our clients have the option of choosing between affordable traditional hourly fees, economical monthly fees or fixed priced legal services for certain legal matters. Please note that each of these options is subject to the acceptance of an engagement letter by the client, which will provide additional and more specific details about our billing practices. Please contact us for more information.
Fixed Fee for Certain Matters and Transaction
Businesses need assistance with numerous recurring legal matters. Most large corporate law firms charge for such services on an hourly basis, often involving junior, mid-level and senior associates, and partners. This practice tends to result in duplication of work and increased costs to the client. We believe that the best method of minimizing legal fees, while providing optimal client service is to charge a fixed fee for these types of matters, such as:
For Corporations:
- Standard organization of a corporation
- Preparation of annual stockholder and board of director meeting minutes
- Review of monthly board of directors meeting minutes for statutory compliance
- Filing annual reports with the Secretary of State
For Limited Liability Companies:
- Standard organization of single and multiple member limited liability companies
- Filing of annual secretary of state reports
- Completion of standard transfers of ownership interests among LLC members
Traditional Hourly Fees
Our hourly rates are substantially lower than standard rates at larger midwest firms, which often range from $300.00 to $500.00 for partners and can often exceed $300 for senior associates. Our current, standard hourly rate is $190.00. Our billable rates allow client cost savings to be substantial. Over the course of 40 hours of legal representation, our clients often experience a cost savings in excess of $4,000.00 when compared to the rates charged by larger firms. We keep our overhead as low as possible, and we pass those savings along to our clients.
Convenient Payment Methods
In addition to checks, we accept all most major credit cards through PayPal.
